Whadda think? Is it going to be any good? From the little bit that I've heard, it doesn't sound all to fantastic, but I'm hoping that I'm wrong about that.
On another note: I'm not sure how I feel about a major company trying to woo churches into advertising their movies for them. I'd rather see a movie because it's good, rather then just because it's "christian".

The preview looks really good, I'm just hoping that movie delivers something that everyone will want to see, not just the "church people".

Quickboy - it is the nativity story. It is a Christian story. What do you have against that? Regardless, it is still something that church people are most likely to be the bigger crowd on.

I have nothing against the story, obviously! I don't see how you could think that I do. I'm just a little put off by a movie company having the success of their movie hinging on the church's ability to market the movie to their congregations.
Of course loads of Christians will go see The Nativity Story, but I think to market the movie for the Christian audience handcuffs the potential for this movie to entertain and inform the general public about what Christmas is really all about.
I went and saw the movie last night, and it was pretty good. But not excellent. It is destined to become a classic Christmas holiday movie on TV one day. There were definatly some great moments, and the overall emotion of the movie was good, but it seemed like a really subdued movie. The tone seemed very quiet and serene, which didn't really cause me to engage in the movie, compared to if the could have had a bit more tension and intensity in the performances.
The manger scene was a bit too "typical" for me. It looked like they just borrowed someone's full size nativity scene from their yard. That was disappointing since the rest of the movie seemed really authentic in the scenery, costume, and general feel. To go from that to a scene that you could see at any Nativity play was disappointing.
Did anyone else go see it opening night?

Quickboy, I apologize. I see what you mean, now, and I am sorry I took it the wrong way.

I haven't seen any thing too good in the reviews for it. I hear many reviewers were expecting a different take on a familiar story from an up and coming director. They also said the special effects were weak.
